I was born in a small village near Wigan and went to the local grammar school, where I did French, German and Latin for A Level. I studied French and German at Nottingham University and spent a year teaching English in France as part of my degree. After graduating I worked for 5 years in Switzerland, teaching English at 2 grammar schools and a language school for adults (similar to Fylde FLC!) in Zürich. On returning to England I taught German and French at 2 independent schools in Canterbury and Stockport before becoming Head of German and then Head of MFL for over 20 years at KEQMS Lytham. On 'retiring' I worked as Director of Rossall Summer School for 5 years and also spent 3 years tutoring in Austria. I teach French and German at Fylde FLC. I have always enjoyed teaching languages and seeing the progress that my students of all ages make.
